Article: WOD Online: Where Art Thou?

I recently stumbled across an awesome piece of test footage on YouTube which was apparently put together by CCP Games to showcase their usae of NVIDIA's new APEX technology for modelling the movement of clothes and hair in games.

Although the project CCP Games have in mind at the moment concerns the ability for players in EVE to climb out of their ships and walk around space stations, there has been a lot of rumours that they will use the same engine to power their new MMO project World of Darkness (WOD) Online. This video certainly lends credence to this theory, given that the test model is a voluptuous gothic chick in a ballgown and fishnets.

The lack of news about the status of the WOD Online project however is a little surprising. One would have expected CCP to generate more press around their new baby, which is alleged to be as cutting edge as EVE Online was at the time of its release.

The other big MMO for 2011 will be Star Wars: The Old Republic, and you can see from the game's official site that Bioware has pulled out all the stops in regards to informing fans about the game and keeping the community appraised of the game's development process.

In comparison, WOD Online doesn't even have a web site, not even a splash or holding page saying 'coming soon'. CCP's own corporate site simply directs enquirers to their jobs page. The originators of the World of Darkness, White Wolf, don't have anything about the project on their web site either. This seems particularly strange given that when you go to the web site for EVE Online there are almost daily posts from the developers of the game, engaging with their community in a similar manner to Bioware.

I think CCP will let you know about the game when they have a game working already. Short beta and then launch.
