A Vampire, a mummy and a lab assistant all stand silent on a busy street corner. This may sound like the beginning of a terrible horror film joke, however in the hands of master Norwegian cartoonist Jason, it is simply the beginning of a masterpiece. The works of the multiple Eisner award winning international artist have at long last found a global audience and with the English version of his latest Graphic Novel, Almost Silent, there has never been a better time to check out Jason.

Born John Arne Sæterøy in Modle, Norway in 1963, Jason and his surprisingly simple cartoon characters first appeared in the Norwegian comic magazine Konk in 1981 and in 1991 Jason was awarded by the Norwegian Comics Association for his short work Pervo. The following decade would see more awards in Jason's path and the publication of his first Graphic Novel Lomma full av regn or A Pocket Full of Rain in 1995.

English and American fans of Jason first got their exposure to the one-man comic making machine in 2001 with his first English release Hey, Wait a critically acclaimed story of childhood and tragedy. It was largely considered one of the greatest graphic novels of all time and it even won Jason the Harvey award for best new talent in 2002.

With other titles, including the Eisner Award Winers The Left Bank Gang and I Killed Adolf Hitler plus hits like The Last Musketeer and Low Moon, Jason has produced an impressive body of work that only shows signs of growing. Last September Jason took on the Marvel Universe in Strange Tales #1 giving everyone's favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and the nefarious Doc. Ock a unique make-over.

Fantagraphics books, Jason's English publisher, is one of the largest publishers of independent comic books running right now. With Jason's unforgettable characters ranked among the likes of Charlie Brown and Dennis the Menace. With a short film based his Graphic Novel Shhh! in the works.
