17 days is a rather long 'tomorrow'...

Anyhow, this first review of the new year is a look at the Eldar who aren't servicing a Dark God in order to keep their souls.

During the event known to the Eldar as 'The Fall' the Eldar race was split into two factions, the malicious raiders known as the Dark Eldar and their spacefaring brothers who avoid the Dark God they created by sealing the spirits of their dead in spiritstones, this second faction have always simply been called The Eldar. They are a traditionalist faction of their species that forgo all pleasure and maintain ancient rituals that will preserve them from the hunger of Slaanesh.

When being used on the table-top, the Eldar are both an army for beginners and for pros, not leaving much leeway inbetween. Each unit has an incredibly obvious task to perform; Fire Dragons destroy tanks and heavy infantry, Howling Banshees tear through slow enemies in combat, Dark Reapers are long range support etc etc. It's easy enough to figure out a strategy with them, making them very good for beginners, and pro-gamers can turn them into a devastating army.

Pros:
- Easy to figure out strategies in-game.
- Large choice of units for making various different lists.
- High initiative with their close combat support.
- A good mix of heavy and light armour on their infantry.
- Various paint schemes to experiment with.
- Below average points cost.

Cons:
- Low strength and toughness.
- Low armoured vehicles.
- A large portion of the range are metal models, making them expensive to buy.

As you can see, The Eldar are an alright army. For those who are already experienced with 40k, they might find them bland and boring, but for new players they can be a lot of fun.
