Daniel Gardner is currently the number 1 UK Magic: The Gathering player and Alex Fenghänel was a player who'd travelled from Germany to attend the Brussels Grand Prix 2010. I had a chance to interview both of them at the Brussels event this past weekend.
First up, my interview with Daniel Gardner:
Alltern8: So, what got you into Magic: The Gathering?
Daniel Gardner: Pokemon cards. That's pretty much how everyone I know got into Magic.
Alltern8: Got a favourite deck or archetype?
DG: Anything Blue. I'm having fun with a Blue/White control deck at the moment.
Alltern8: So the new Worldwake set just came out. Been enjoying it? Any particular favourite cards?
DG: It's really good. I'm particularly fond of the new Jace, The Mind Sculptor.
Alltern8: Do you travel far to get to many of the Grand Prixs?
DG: I try to get to most European Grand Prixs if I can manage it. This Grand Prix's been pretty good so far; it's a decent sized venue and there's plenty of people here.
Alltern8: You've been to a lot of European Grand Prixs then? Which ones have you been to?
DG: I went to Madrid a few weeks back. Paris, Birmingham - pretty much any I can get to.
Alltern8: How do you go about building a deck for a tournament?
DG: I look at lists online and playtest with friends a lot.
Alltern8: So, how'd you get to be the UK Number 1 player?
