What the Pros are Doing: Dec 4, 09
This week's link round up is a little on the light side. (I suspect that has something to do with this whacky Holiday we Americans have, that has to do with traveling, eating too much, and otherwise interrupting your life. I'm still sick but happy.)
So that said, why don't you first stop by Rob Donoghue's blog and check out his review of White Wolf's Geist: The Sin-Eaters game. Pretty quickly, you'll find the terrifying truth about Geist and it'll leave you wondering 'who's playing who?'
My husband, David A Hill Jr keeps busy with writing, panels, and playing with the new baby. Somehow, in the middle of all that he found a way to write up a version of his Design an RPG in an Hour panel for your reading pleasure.
Now off into the crazy world of 'writing rules are pretty much like good game design,' I'm stopping back by Chuck Wendig's blog where he's saying NO to unitaskers. If you're a game planner when you run (or even when you design characters to play) I sure hope you have these things in mind.
Another gamer and writer who you should already be in love with (Doyce Testerman) has been writing about NANOWRIMO this month. Recently, he reminded us that stories need conflict. Read it, skip the parts about word count, and keep in mind that every challenge we present to our players are in fact a manifestation of conflict. Like with good writing, good games are jam packed with good conflict.
