Calling the Tau 'Fishy' was far too cheesy...
The Tau are a young race, isolated from the rest of the galaxy, developing at an astonishing rate. In less than 10,000 years they evolved from a primitive race to spacefaring ideologists, albeit stuck within a small cluster of stars. Tau technology is extraordinary in comparison to how long it took the Imperium to reach the same level of technological efficiency.
For the past 5 years, the Tau have managed to hold an astounding table-top presence. Capable of fielding standard firearms that can cut down even the toughest of monsters and tanks armed with enough firepower to destroy any enemy vehicle, the Tau are an army that revolve around one thing: Shooting. To make up for their lack of combat-capable units, the Tau have access to a number of auxiliaries from other races that excel where the Tau do not; the combat orientated Kroot and the speedy Vespid. When playing a Tau army, the best strategy is generally the most obvious one; shoot it and if that doesn't work then shoot it some more.
Pros:
- Generally cheap units, points-wise.
- Huge amounts of firepower.
- Guns capable of taking down anything at all.
- Specialist units for when the enemy gets too close.
- Access to all manner of useful items from the armoury.
- Mostly plastic range of models making it a cheap army, money-wise.
Cons:
- Low stats and armour.
- Highly vulnerable to combat or enemies that rush.
- Few special characters.
- Lack of combat units makes writing lists very bland since most strategy boils down to shooting.
