Warhammer 40,000 Armies - Part 2, Sisters of Battle
Date: 8 Dec 2009
Continuing on with my reviews of the various armies of 40k, I'm taking a look at Sisters of Battle. The Sisters of Battle are a surprisingly powerful army despite their old codex and out-dated rules, because they are balanced out by their access to one of the most game-breaking special rules known as Faith and their access to the eponymous equipment of the Space Marines; Power Armour and Boltguns.
As for Faith, it can make a squad's ranged weapons AP1 for a turn, it can make armour saves into invulnerable saves amongst other effects. Considering that Sisters of Battle can carry a very high number of flamer weapons, when you're taking 30 wounds at AP1 on a 10 man squad, that can be quite daunting.
Pros:
- Have access to Faith.
- Above average armour save and high strength standard ranged weapon.
- Can abuse flamers.
- Can negate any psychic power that targets them.
- Cheap infantry and walkers.
- Still have access to an armoury which makes for more personal lists.
Cons:
- Expensive vehicles and transports.
- Completely average stat-lines.
- Expensive to buy the models since they're all metal.
As you can probably see for yourself, the pros outweigh the cons somewhat. I find that the thing that puts most people off playing Sisters of Battle is how pricey they are since every model in their range is metal, but they are quite detailed as well. Hopefully in the future, when they get round to writing a new Sisters of Battle codex they'll release a plastic model range, but for now we don't know.
Anyhow, that's all for today's quick review. My next army review will be looking at something that looks better in green.

Looks better in green?
The Space Marines Salamander Chapter look good in Green.
As do the Death Guard of Chaos, the Biel-tan Eldar and numerous Tyranid Hive Fleets.
While Orks are naturally green they tend to go faster in red.
