Warhammer 40,000 Armies - Part 10, Chaos Daemons

Date: 18 Jan 2010
This is my last 40k army review for the time being, more information in my Journal.

Chaos Daemons are nightmares brought to life. The negative emotions of every warp-sensitive race wrought in flesh and blood as devastating monsters that ravage the battlefield as the truest personifications of their dark masters.

On the table-top, Chaos Daemons are a truly devastating army. They don't set up normally, and instead Deep Strike half of their army in on the first turn and then the other half arrive via Deep Strike as per normal. This alone gives them a massive advantage over however their opponent deploys. To back that up, they have combat monsters that can shred through any opposing unit and plenty of shortrange shooting support. One of their biggest advantages is that they have very few armour saves, and instead have Invulnerable Saves meaning that they're rarely going to lose their saving throw.

Let's breakdown their pros and cons then:
Pros:
-Highly varied troops, capable of preparing for anything.
-Lots of high strength units prepared for combat.
-Deep Strikeing instead of setting up normally for maximum field advantage.
-Cheap and customisable units make for a very personal army.

Cons:
-A large portion of units have a low Toughness and/or saving throw, making them vulnerable to any massed fire.
-Few anti-tank/vehicle units.
-Difficult to learn, not recommended for beginners.
-Large portions of the range is still only available as metal models making them expensive to collect.

Pros and cons don't number too highly for this army, eh? Well, it's commonly known that Chaos Daemons are an army for pros and they often place highly at tournaments due to their variation and preparedness for any situation.

Well, that's it for my army reviews!
