Salute 2010 - A Frother's Perspective

Saturday 24th April marked the annual UK wargaming event of the year - Salute 2010 run by South East London Warlords. The venue for the event was again the Excel exhibition centre in London Docklands.

One of the many hats that I wear includes being a Committee member of Frothers Unite - UK!, a web site & forums dedicated to the discussion and the play of fantasy miniatures. This year members of FU-UK! represented the site with two different games on two adjacent tables.

The first game 'Frotherheim' was a fantasy skirmish game set in the remnants of an old town destroyed by mystical meteorites.

The board itself was created for us by Fenris Games, and various Frothers (FU-UK members) chipped in painting miniatures or building scenery for the table.

Many of the buildings were scratch-built using foam card, cardboard, plaster casts and wooden splints (the wooden stirrers from coffee shops such as Pret and Costa were ideal).

The rules that we used for the game were Songs of Blades and Heroes by Ganesha Games. Each player was allowed to bring a gang of figures using any miniatures from any manufacturer they liked. We also provided spare gangs for people to join in on the day.
