Date: 26 Feb 2010
Students at Carnegie Mellon University in the USA have been working on a project as a proof of concept for using the Microsoft Surface as a playing aid for the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game. I picked up the story originally from the SFX magazine web site at http://www.sfx.co.uk/page/sfx?entry=dungeons_and_dragons_on_the but there is more information at the Crunch Gear web site they link to at http://www.crunchgear.com/2010/02/10/hands-on-dd-on-the-microsoft-surface/.
Web magazine Wired also has a similar article which contains a better video waklthrough of the concept at http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2009/10/d-and-d-microsoft-surface/.
The official project web site can be found at http://www.etc.cmu.edu/projects/surfacescapes/index.html.
