D&D 4th ed: Wilderness Location and Lore Tables.

Here are two handy tables for rolling up some instant historic lore on a random wilderness location.
The first table covers the basic nature of the location, the second table gives the information on what once happened there, which may inspire an encounter based on the combination of the two elements.

1. An overgrown box canyon with a small pool of spring water at the bottom.
2. An ancient ruin built of large, well crafted stones, now overgrown and half buried.
3. A clearing, the center of which shows signs of recent activity, old fire pits and debris.
4. A very large statue toppled over and swallowed by the forest.
5. A strange pillar of untarnished metal, plunging deep into the ground.
6. Old ruins which have been rebuilt numerous times.
7. A solid wall of rock with a hot spring of fresh clear water running from the middle.
8. A perfectly spherical boulder, split down the center, an object was once inside it.
9. A lush grove with a stone circle in it's heart, where nothing grows.
10. A bubbling mud pool, odd colored and strange smelling.
11. A dry and desolate area with a huge, lush oak tree growing in the middle of it.
12. A large pile of animal bones, fresh kills scattered around and signs of torn up trees.
13. A round pit, fifty feet deep with sloping sides and a sandy floor.
14. An area suffused with elemental energy, featuring fire pools and stone trees.
15. A huge floating island of rock, forested with lush jungle that is not native to the area.
16. A crash site of an ancient air ship of strange design.
