D&D 4th ed: Soul Stone Items

The previous article on Soul Stones covered the basic concept, now here are a few specific examples to include in your game.

I think your players will appreciate that the Soul Grenade can be used as both a rechargeable healing tool, and an effective combat weapon, adding a bit of added versatility in the form of controller power to anyone who cares to make the sacrifice and hurl it into a group of enemies. The ability to blast a bunch of bad guys with a magical pulse of mind warping emotion is very cool, but the loss of such a handy healing trinket will make the experience somewhat bitter sweet, after all, that is a level 13 magical item they just smashed into a million pieces!

Second item on offer, a weapon crafted out of Soul Stone.

I am very fond of the idea that this item could fall into the hands of the party prankster, who makes wicked use of it, spreading lust and ecstasy with every sweep of the blade. And of course, the idea of a bunch of Kobolds hit with a blast of lust from a Soul Grenade is just.. well, that could bring combat to a hilarious finish in one fell swoop if done right, which would be just as well, since the player characters might just be paralyzed with laughter.
That is, until they see a bit too much and become more than a little revolted.
