The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile Announced
Date: 25 Feb 2010
It has been announced that one of the most popular Xbox Live Indie titles from 2009 ‘The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai’ will be given a sequel. Developer Ska Studios revealed ‘The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile’ along with a trailer and a handful of images. The new game will run on an entirely new engine, including games features such as a single player and co-op campaign, 50 challenges levels and an additional endless challenge mode. The ‘The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai’ which was released on April 1st last year won Microsoft’s XNA Dream Build Play award, which features independent developers competing to create the best game using the Microsoft’s XNA Game Studio engine. Whoever created the best title successfully had their title released on Xbox Live Arcade, which is now known as Xbox Live Indie Marketplace. The game also received praise from many online reviewers and received a metacritic score of 75%.
The game is a fast paced 2D action platformer with a unique visual style that is stunning to look at, especially for an XNA title. The role of the game relies upon the main character that is styled as a samurai warrior battling various foes including robots and zombies in an array of stylish moves and attacks to progress through the different levels. The game also featured a guitar-hero themed game mode where the player could use a guitar controller to play the game and progress through the levels, attacking enemies by hitting the right notes for the song they were playing.
The release date for the title is currently under wraps but will be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. There is no word however of the original or this new title being released for Sony’s Playstation 3 PSN store.
