Alltern8 had the chance to gain an exclusive Interview with Manuel Rupérez and Christian Pulido. Creative Directors of Jungleland games.
Alltern8: Can you give our readers an insight regarding the collaboration between Jungleland Games and Abylight – how it works and the input from each party?
Manuel Rupérez and Christian Pulido: We believe in a new way to promote videogames in such a way that it is beneficial for all parties involved. This is Jungleland’s mission, and in this project it involved Abylight as publisher and developer, people generating playable concepts and scripts, people managing the Marketing and PR associated, people handling all funding, legal and administrative aspects, and people managing all this project together so the final result increases its chances of being a success. Abylight, keeping its independency as publisher and developer, is also a partner within Jungleland adding their technical knowledge, production capability and delivery reliability to this project.
Alltern8: Stop Stress is a simple concept but must rely on strong ideals and a devious plotline and actions to keep the player engrossed. What has inspired the game and what do you feel is the games’ real hook and innovation?
MR & CP: The simple truth is that we came up with the idea one day whist playing on our studio Wii and the remote-control run out of battery. We started shaking it with let’s say a certain degree of “fury” in order to avoid the inevitable “game over” message! and I guess that triggered a “spark”. Innovation here is how we position the game and its script. The original idea of providing players with an anti stress game combined with scenarios in which you can expect the unexpected (how about a gorilla in diapers throwing bananas at you?) are key elements of the attraction and will be a pleasant surprise for a big majority of Wii fans.
