Mods of Mount & Blade Warband – Audio and Visual

One of the biggest and best parts of the original Mount & Blade gaming world was its ease of modding, and how proliferate some of those mods became. There were a huge variety including audio, graphical, gameplay, full conversions and more. Now, the same thing is beginning to happen with Mount & Blade Warband.

Now with only a few weeks behind us since the release of the full game, let’s take a look at what audio and visual improvement mods are available for the game, and how much they affect the playing experience.

NB. The mods listed here are only ones that are considered complete and game-ready by their authors. There are many other visual and audio mods that may work with some installs, but there is no guarantee.

More Metal Sound

The more metal sound mod is an interesting one as from the get go, as it doesn’t seem like much. However, cranking up my sound effects volume and dropping the music down to make the changes more audible, I have to say I really like it. There’s more clashing of metal on metal as troops collide and the swords and axes begin to fall.

Crossbow bolts and archer’s arrows whoosh out of their respective propellant weaponry with a much more visceral sound, and the battlefield just feels far more real than it did before.

Hoof beats also sound fantastic and jumping has been remastered giving a more thundering charge sound as you and your cavalry race across the battlefield towards your enemies. Some of the sounds can feel a little overstated, to the point where they border on cartoon like metallic clangs, but these moments are few and far between. This is an excellent mod and I would recommend it to anyone who plays Mount and Blade Warband, or the original; as the mod works seamlessly for both.

Installation is pretty simple; it only involves copying a few files and making a single change to the module.ini file. Easy peasy.

Reworked Armours 1.5

This is described as a mini-mod, and at the moment it very much is. It only changes a few costumes around the world of Calradia, but it makes some nice changes. Several of the poorer quality textures which were seemingly ported from the original game have been updated, giving a few fabric based armours a much more realistic look. They’re still a long way off from the more graphically pretty games out there, but it all helps.

I had the same problem initially. All you need to do is reinstall the mod, but go into the Warband folder and install it from there. The generic one is designed for the original Mount and Blade.

Hello,

First and all : good job on the mod. The battle sound finally don't sound all the same sounds anymore.

1 thing though. The travelling sound (over the map) has changed into battling sounds.

Where can I change that ?
