Review:
Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West

When the developers of Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West were making this game, it is almost like they knew exactly what I was looking for. A multiplayer only, class based, third-person shooter set in the Wild West. Yet despite Lead & Gold hitting all of the points on the checklist of cool, is the game any good? I’m happy to report, that it most certainly is.
Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West is a class based, multiplayer-only game very similar to Team Fortress 2. Players are split into the two teams of Red and Blue, and must utilize the talents of four different classes to achieve victory. All of the classes have access to different primary and secondary weapons, and each have a different special ability that can recharge after use. For example, the Gunslinger can quickly fire off quick shots from their six-shooter at the cost of accuracy. The Blaster, who excels in close range with their double-barreled shotgun, has the ability to throw a stick of dynamite. Deputies have a powerful rifle with a ton of ammo in it, and they can mark members of the opposing team so that they can always be found. This makes it possible to find that illusive opponent who is running off with your team’s stash of gold. Finally, there is the long-ranged specialist the Trapper, who can snipe with their rifle and lay down bear traps to slow down the opponent.
There are other slight intricacies for the classes beyond their special abilities and the primary and secondary weapons. Ammo is unlimited, but the classes have different reload times and weapon ranges, so timing and shot selection are of great importance. Another item that is important to note, is that each class carries with it an area-wide buff that can help out your fellow teammates. Only hitch though, is that you can only receive a class specific buff once. This limitation encourages players to diversify their teams in an effort to be well rounded and gain all of the effects available. As you kill players, loot gold, and perform other actions in game, your character will start to slowly level up, allowing your area-wide buff will improve, making yourself and your team even better. Levels reset after each round though, so after your current match, you’ll go right back to level 1 like everyone else.
