Halo: Reach Multiplayer Beta Details Released

Date: 3 Mar 2010
Bungie finally released details of the upcoming multiplayer beta for the final Halo installment, Halo: Reach, which is slated to arrive sometime at the end of the year for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console. The beta, which has been included in every copy of last year’s Halo: ODST, will be activated on May 3rd, a similar date schedule to the Halo 3 multiplayer beta back in 2007 which was available with the purchase of another Microsoft Game, Crackdown.

The first-person shooter is being developed by Bungie and Published by Microsoft Game Studios, and is set before the events of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, which was released on Microsoft’s’ first console the Xbox as a launch title in 2001.

The new trailer, which can be seen by following the link at the bottom of the page, showcases all new multiplayer footage of the game. In the video, it streams between the different game modes which will most likely be available for the beta. It also gives a sneak peak at some features that have never been available in previous Halo games, including the ability to perform assassinations and having your player use a jetpack to move around the map. Other things noticed by viewing the trailer are that the players map, which is found at the bottom left of the screen, is slightly more detailed, showing buildings and objects in the world, which seems slightly more detailed than the old yellow and red dots to indicate other players used in previous Halo games.

If you want to join in on the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta go grab yourself a copy of Halo: ODST if you haven’t already done so and join in on May 3rd.
