Exclusive interview with the creators of Return To Mysterious Island
1: Please can you tell our readers about Anuman and Microids and how the interaction works between the two companies? Many people have heard of Microids but not Anuman.
Created in 2000, Anuman Interactive is a mainstream software publisher and is a leader in the fields of architecture, the Highway Code and creative activities in France. In 2003, Anuman also published several softwares in the USA with the Dummies brand on it. Since 2007, Anuman Interactive has also been publishing games for the Nintendo DS, Wii, Sony PSP and it is now mainly focused on iPhone and iPad, also with HdO Adventure brand.
At the end of 2009, Anuman Interactive acquired the Microids brand and portfolio, which is known globally for its high quality video games. Anuman is now positioning on Adventure games and is willing to develop Microids’ most famous games on mobile platforms.
2: Your first foray onto the ipad is with 'RETURN TO MYSTERIOUS ISLAND' – DELUXE EDITION. Please can you tell our readers why this game from
your catalogue was chosen?
‘Return to Mysterious Island’ (RTMI) – Deluxe is not our first game on iPad. We have already launched "Dracula: The path of the Dragon" and "Egypt : The Prophecy" this summer. Both titles are in 3 episodes. On the other hand, “Return to Mysterious Island” – deluxe is a stand-alone title.
RTMI is a franchise that has sold over 850,000 copies on PC, iPhone and iPod touch to date. We really wanted to develop this title on iPad because we are convinced it is the best platform to enjoy the game and to get enhanced graphics. And to be honest, we have also chosen this title because we are fascinated by Jules Verne’s novels.
3: The ipad is very new to the UK market and elsewhere and is viewed upon as a very expensive executive toy. Do you feel the ipad will take off and do you also believe it will take a few years and a larger user base before it really makes an impact? What is your vision?
