Duelmasters (GBA) – Kaijudo Showdown (Part 3)
This is the last part of my review on the Kaijudo Showdown game. In this final part, I’ll give you two sample decks to try out.
Sample Decks
Here are two sample decks that I constructed for the game; both seem to do reasonably well against the AI. The Darkness deck is definitely the stronger of the two. Decks are presented organized by cost, then alphabetically. I even tried for a deck name reminiscent of the Duelmasters expansion sets!
Unseen Tide
This deck attempts to control the game through blockers while gaining field presence and card advantage (by drawing cards). In the early stages of the game, try to place blockers, and in the mid game, use Brain Serum and Aqua Hulcus to draw into your end game.
(1) Aqua Guard x4
This is a simple one cost blocker with power 2000, and it is also a Liquid People. This makes all of the evolutions from it simply cost “+1” for the ability to be played and attack right away.
(2) Hunter Fish x4
A two cost blocker with power 3000. You need early blockers, and this one is pretty powerful; most two cost attackers have a power of 2000.
(3) Aqua Hulcus x4
Although it costs 3 and only has a power of 2000, it replaces itself with a new card. If there are no blockers, it can hide behind your own as it takes small pokes at the opponent’s shields. As a Liquid People, he’s also important for the evolutions in the deck.
(3) Aqua Soldier x2
Another 3 cost Liquid People; this one bounces if it’s destroyed. With a power of 1000, though, it’s not altogether that strong. It’s ability means you can get a hit in before it is attacked and returned to your hand. Once in your hand, though, you may wish to play it as a mana instead, which can be quite useful.
(3) Hypersquid Walter x1
As we cannot run a fifth Aqua Hulcus and drawing replacement cards is good, the Hypersquid Walter is a viable substitute, although not a Liquid People. If you can attack with him more than once, you’ll actually be ahead on cards!
(3) Phantom Fish x4
Our three cost blocker, this one boasts a power of 4000, which is more than enough to deter most early attackers and many creatures of similar cost.
