DotA Hero Guide: The Sacred Troll Warrior

The first time that I ever used Huskar (the Sacred Warrior), I was a bit hesitant. Our game mode was -ar (All Random), and I was itching to swap with other heroes instead of playing him. I initially thought that he is a soft hero (despite having found out that he is a strength-type hero). I was also disappointed with his movement speed—he is too slow (although the upside of it, I later found out, was that he’s so funny when he is running for his life). Anyway, since no one wanted to swap with me, and I am against re-picking a hero, I thought “What the heck, just play!” and the rest is history. From then on, I’ve included Huskar in my list of top heroes to play.

Huskar is unique in that he is the only strength-type hero to have a ranged attack (all the remaining strength-type heroes are melee-type). On top of that, he can set his spear aflame (Burning Spear skill), causing stackable damage over time as they hit his foes. Another unique ability is his Inner Vitality, which magically unlocks the potential regenerative power within a target unit, healing its life force based upon its primary attribute (this he can also use for himself). That is why Huskar, early on in the game, can be really destructive and irritating. His Burning Spear makes enemy heroes think twice before attacking straight ahead, while his healing skill makes him stay longer in the lane leveling up and farming for gold.

I have just mentioned two of Huskar’s abilities, so it makes sense to just continue with his remaining skills. Huskar’s third skill is Berserker’s Blood. Here, Huskar feels each of his wounds and channels the pain, increasing attack speed and damage for each 7% missing health. Now, it is important to mention that for his Burning Spear skill, Huskar uses his own life force to set the spears aflame. Because of this, his lifeline slowly diminishes for every throw of the Burning Spear (healthcost is 15HP). Ironically, his third skill complements this, as I’ve just mentioned above. The more he uses his Burning Spear, the lesser his HP becomes, the greater the damage added to his normal attack during that moment. Finally, we come to his ultimate skill—the Life Break—wherein Huskar reaches into the well of his own life force to heavily damage an enemy. With this skill, the target takes damage equal to 50% of its HP. This ability of Huskar also slows the target by 50% for 5 seconds. However, Huskar pays a certain percentage of his HP to cast this skill.
