DotA Hero Guide: The Dragon Knight Davion

Perhaps another tough hero to beat in Warcraft Defense of the Ancients (DotA), at least if the player knows how to play him well, is Knight Davion—a Dragon Knight that can transform into a dragon (Elder Dragon). Davion is a strength-type hero, although he has two battle styles: as a knight, he is melee-type; while as an Elder Dragon (his ultimate skill), he is ranged (of course).

If I may digress, though, I am just wondering why the Knight character sometimes become dragons. I mean, take for instance in the game Soul of the Ultimate Nation (S.U.N.) Online, a free-to-play MMORPG I am currently playing. My Class is a Dragon Knight, who can transform into a much stronger Dragon (that is, after completing the Dragon Transformation Quest, as well as increasing the Dragonic proficiency stat up to a certain level). Meanwhile, in the game MU Online (also from the South Korean gaming company Webzen), there is also a “dragon” reference to Dark Knights; even though they do not transform into dragons, some of their armors include the Red Dragon set and Black Dragon set. One thing though, they can have wings, so technically, their appearance looks “dragonic”.

And now this guy Davion that I am writing this article about. Maybe I need to do more reading on knights and dragons. One interesting point though, is that a common plot in some fairy tales is that a “knight in shining armor” (in MMORPG lingo, those shining armor will have like a +12 or +13 level or rank) will rescue his princess and future queen from a dragon’s lair. Funny, come to think of it, how a dragon can kidnap a princess. Good thing to know that, I think, there are no kids yet (in between ages three and 12 years) that might be reading this post—otherwise their fantasy tales will just be “destroyed” by my musings.

Anyway, I’ve digressed far enough. Let’s leave it at that and get on with our man Knight Davion (maybe I might dig something up and then write about it next time regarding this “thing” about knights and dragons and dragon knights). Okay. Let’s start with his skills. One of Davion’s really important skills is his Dragon Blood, which increases his health regeneration and armor. This is very helpful early in the game—enabling you to stay in battle long enough without ever doing the trip back to the Fountain. Because of this also, you can spend your early cash on other items (more damage or faster movement/attack) instead of consumable HP regen items.
