DotA Hero Guide: The Blade of Yurnero

Despite appearing quite weak early in the game, Yurnero (aka Juggernaut) is a powerful late-game hero killer in Warcraft DotA. That is if you were able to farm enough gold to build certain items that will definitely improve his skills. But first things first: just what are his skills?

Yurnero is a master of his blade. This fact, coupled with his being an agility-type hero (technically, he is fast compared to other hero types), makes him a dangerous one-on-one enemy. His blade mastery can be seen with his blade skills set, which is truly damaging and destructive. First, he’s got the Blade Fury, a five-second destructive bladestorm with a 200 AoE around Yurnero, with damage per second of as much 140 (Level 4). The beauty of this skill is that, apart from the damage, it renders Yurnero immune to magic. On the other hand, he receives damage on normal attacks.

Next is Yurnero’s passive skill, Blade Dance, which gives him a chance to deal double damage on each attack. And last but not the least of his blade skills, and I say the most destructive skill of them all, is the Omnislash, wherein he moves around the battlefield to slash many enemies, or focus on one enemy hero and slash him up to as much as eight times nonstop. Apart from this, Yurnero is invulnerable from spells and attacks while doing this skill.

Meanwhile, Yurnero is not just pure blade and killing, as one of his skills—the Healing Ward—enables him to summon a ward that heals all nearby allied units’ HP.

Now, considering Yurnero’s skill sets above, a “winning” item set should provide him with as much damage as possible and as much attack speed as possible. On the other hand, doing this is pretty hard because, as I’ve said in the beginning, Yurnero is weak in the early part of the game. Therefore it is important to play “smart”. Avoid being spammed with spells, don’t get too excited, and most importantly, be patient to avoid being killed early on in the game. If you could block waves after waves of creeps, that’d be helpful.

I admit others might disagree, but here are my item choices for Yurnero: Battle Fury, Sange and Yasha, The Butterfly, Boots of Travel (BoT), Heart of Tarrasque, and Assault Cuirass--but definitely not in order. Firstly, they are really expensive items (in fact, they are items which you will be able to build or complete starting around the middle period of the game). So what I do is focus on the cheaper items first, which will eventually build up to form these said items.
