Nazi Zombies - Der Riese
Chances are if you've played Treyarch's last attempt at Call of Duty, then you've likely played Nazi Zombies too. And for those uninitiated even now, the premise is very simple. You choose a map to start on (one out of four) and are transported to a specific starting area of that map. Surrounding the map are locked doors which can be opened with a variety of point values, and windows barricaded with wood. Soon zombies dressed in Nazi uniforms come from the areas behind the windows, and proceed to knock them out and attack you in the zone. The whole point of Nazi Zombies is simple: survive.
There are rounds to differentiate for players how far they've gone in a particular game, and with each round comes a new wave of zombies that are harder, better, faster, stronger (Thanks Daft Punk!). In this article, I will be discussing the fourth of the Nazi Zombie Maps, Der Riese.
Der Riese is a bit different from the other maps, in that it's huge. Gigantic even. And if you're only familiar with the earlier two maps, this might be a lot to
handle. There's a lot going on in this map. For starters, there's a huge machine in the center that is completely blocked off, called a Pack-A-Punch. If you can open this machine and spend 5000, any weapon you put into it will be upgraded into a sci-fi version of itself, which means it hits harder, is faster, and has more ammunition.
But to do so, you need to unlock the three teleporters in the game. Yup I said teleporters. This level is supposed to represent the areas of Germany that Hitler was experimenting with the occult, and apparently he found ways to teleport people as well. Needless to say, you're not going to have to worry about that. To make the strategy here simple, I'm going to use levels to mark what you should be doing.
Levels 1-4 (up to lvl. 5 if you are online)
You need to be in the main area. You should NOT open any doors, although some very ignorant people tend to think that it is a good idea in the early rounds. What you should be doing is running from one window to another, checking for zombies. See any? Don't get crazy yet. Don't even shoot them. Wait until they get relatively close, and unload about 4 bullets into them. Why so little? Well, you don't want to kill them in round 1 with the gun! You want the most amount of points you can get, and knife kills will land you those points, so finish off the zombies with knife hits only. If you are on split-screen you should already both almost have 1000 points. Not bad for one round eh?
