Its that time of year folks, the time of year where the undead awaken to feast upon our flesh and ghouls of the night awaken to strike fear in the hears of millions. Yes, its October and that means, Halloween. In order to celebrate this oh so glorious month of spooks and frights, I’ll be providing you with a month full of reviews on some of the greatest budget horror games on the market. We’re going to cover everything from three sided enemies, spanish towns, and abandoned spaceships all at a price that you’ll enjoy for this Halloween, and without further ado, let us depart into our first game.

Ever since George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, one of the most thought about natural disasters of gamers is that of a “zombie apocalypse” in which the undead outnumber regular humans and those alive must fight their way to survival. This phenomenon has become so popular that there have even been bestselling books written on how to survive such an event (which I would highly recommend looking up if you haven’t). Sadly though, science has proven that such an event would be very unlikely (knock on wood), but that won’t stop people from dreaming about slaying the undead. Thus, we are lead to our first game of the month, Left for Dead 2.

In Left for Dead, you will find your screen being flooded with the infected that you fight off for survival.

Left for Dead 2 is quite simply survival horror put to the extreme. Usually when you hear about this genre your playing alone as one character walking around an abandoned town looking for someone and being frightened over the element of suspense. Left for Dead 2 however, is slightly different in the sense that you are too packed with adrenaline when playing the game to really be surprised by anything that’s because you will be faced against hordes of the undead armed with only a gun and your trusty melee weapon. Through the campaign, you will have to trust more than just your shooter skills to pass the levels as you will need your partners to survive.
