Assassins Creed Brotherhood, is the third edition in the extremely popular Assassins Creed franchise. Which puts you in the role of Desmond Miles, a Bartender from the future and his Italian Assassin Ancestor, Ezio... Or Ezio Auditore da Firenze to use his full name.
AC is a unique series , both from a story telling and gameplay standpoint. There aren't many games out there, if any; where you have free reign of a beautifully detailed Ancient Rome, where every building can be climbed and each and every character is unique and life like, it truly is a groundbreaking action adventure series, with a strong story, likeable protagonists and a wonderfully rich game environment.
Moving on to the review....
Story
The start of AC Brotherhood, begins directly after it's predecessor, Assassins Creed II's ending. Unlike the giant leap in story, character and environment from the first Assassins Creed, to the second game in the series, there is a sense of familiarity in playing Assassins Creed brotherhood, in comparison to Assassins Creed II. You are still in control of Ezio the playboy Assassin and many of the same faces and places are present from the last edition.
In my opinion, this both works for and against the game. On the one hand, you have a chance to get more of an understanding of Ezio and his story (there's a wonderful set of side missions, where you're put in the shoes of a young Ezio, in which he has a chance to really exude his character and charm)
and having the opportunity to properly explore a stunningly life like Rome, is no bad thing. However, the main story isn't quite as compelling as last year and Ezio isn't quite the same slick, carefree character that he was last time out. He seems darker and less humorous, which is understandable considering what he's been through and although there are a number of twists and turns in the main plot, the fact that AC Brotherhood is set in the same time and place as its predecessor, can make it feel slightly less fresh and exciting.
