Assassin's creed 2 Still Uncracked!

Date: 16 Mar 2010
Ubisoft finally said no to piracy. Their DRM protection surpasses any of the current protections made by various game developers. The system Ubisoft uses is not in the programing of the protection but in it's principle.

The protection uses a constant server connection in order for the game to work. As soon as the connection with Ubisoft's server brakes, the game pauses and awaits to be reconnected.
This is because all the game saves are instantly uploaded to the master server so you can easily play it from any location that has an open internet connection.

There are strengths and weaknesses to the concept.
First, Assassin's Creed is a single player game. A constant connection to the internet makes it impossible to play the game from remote locations that have no internet access.

The strength, however, is that it is really hard to make a working pirated version. To emulate a Ubisoft server, by my free speculation and some conversations with experienced coders, is difficult.

Some say that eventually the game will be cracked. However, I speculate that this does not concern Ubisoft much. I believe their goal was not to make an unbreakable protection but to stall for as long as possible in order to gain as much revenue as possible from the game.

Anyway, they deserve every cent from the game because they turned it into something that would be a sin not to play.

Note: This article is not about supporting piracy but informing the public of Ubisoft's efficient anti-piracy campaign.

The PC version looks like ***ing crap, I wouldn't mind the DRM that much, but the game is console ported shit with 20m view range.
I'll go back to play AC1 and delete this, I can't believe they just couldn't change few numbers to make it look viewable at medium to long range.
F**k the consoles set everything back to 2006.

I was not supporting DRM just pointed out the facts from the developers perspective. However I support the companie's game production as they really do make great games. The server connection drops frequently because it is attacked.

Oh ! Your site is named "alltern8" and you support the Ubi's abusive DRM. Take a look at twitter : nobody enjoy this system. This DRM have no strengths at all for the customer who paid the product, if you compare to games with no DRM : only problems when Internet connection drop down or Ubi's servers crash. And when it will be cracked, pirates will have a better experience of the game than the ones who paid it.
