Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth - A Game Review

How far will you go to achieve the “truth” that you are craving? What will you do if pursuing the “truth” challenges your beliefs and the system?

Famous prosecutor Miles Edgeworth in the Ace Attorney series leads this new spin-off game where his job is to unravel the truth from the web of lies of testimonies. But instead of battling the suspects in the courtroom, Edgeworth’s battle is at the crime scene where he must put together the whole picture of the crime by collecting evidence and using his wits.

The game starts off with Edgeworth’s discovery of a detective’s body in his office. Here, players have the clear picture who is the real killer, but the path to successfully convict the suspect is often laced with lies and deceit. As the story progresses, players get to see the bigger picture Edgeworth is working on.

The story in itself is awesome. The series is well-known for its plot twists, which is also accomplished in this game. All the five (5) cases are related to each other, but with a different timeline.

New characters are introduced, as well as Interpol agents, who include themselves in Edgeworth’s investigations. Fortunately (or unfortunately), Detective Gumshoe and Franziska von Karma, along with other characters from the previous series, appear to either help, challenge, or frustrate the poor prosecutor.

The gameplay is relatively new to the players. Instead of moving from one place to another, players can control Edgeworth to investigate parts of the room they are in. Edgeworth also has two new skills: Logic and Deduction. Logic is where unexplainable circumstances are stored and when properly paired up, may give new insight on some of the evidence. On the other hand, Deduction is where Edgeworth can point out a contradiction with the evidence gathered while in an investigation.
