Interview:
Outer Empires: Exclusive Interview

A couple of days ago I released a review of Outer Empires. Shortly after, I was able to get an interview with the lead developer. He didn’t have too much to say, but did hint to additional features and platforms being announced at some time in the future. Perhaps they intend to release apps on other cell phones? On Android perhaps? All this is speculation, but it’s nice to hear that Iron Will Studios is keeping busy.
Read the interview below if you want the whole story.
Me: My name is Andrew. I'm known as the Canadian Geek on alltern8.com Can you introduce yourself?
Paul: I'm Paul Hutson - lead developer of Outer Empires.
Me: What would you say your job is on this game?
Paul: I design, plan and implement all features within the game, making sure everyone on the team works towards the same goals.
Me: How many other people worked on this project with you?
Paul: In total, 15 people from artists, to musicians to writers and developers.
Me: Your studio, Iron Will Studios, was responsible for KingdomGame before this. Did you work on that game as well?
Paul: Yes, I built KingdomGame about a year before starting to work on Outer Empires.
Me: Can you summarize Outer Empires in one paragraph?
Paul: Outer Empires is a space based MMO that gives the player the freedom to pursue whatever career they'd like - from freight transport missions, to combat missions to running a huge galactic empires.
Me: What were your goals in the making of this game?
Paul: To create a stage for players to produce their own political scheming in a huge galactic empire - I love watching how people play the game and do things that I've never thought possible within the game, from setting up huge manufacturing empires, to being a pirate in the outer reaches of space. Each person, faction and group integrates together to make an awesome landscape of political intrigue... whether the player wants to just do jobs for a few minutes, or run huge factions!
