TV Spotlight: Supernatural

This is the seventh part of 14. Everyday for the next 2 weeks we’ll be looking at a new show to air this winter season. Returning lets you know when the first episode of this year will air. It might vary in your region, and will probably repeat. What it’s about gives a brief synopsis. Use that to decide if you should read on. Supernatural

Returning: January 21st 2010

What it’s about: Supernatural follows two badass brothers who travel across America slaying demons, fighting ghosts, and listening to classic rock.

Current Season: Midway through season 5

What’s happened so far: The two brother’s are named Sam and Dean. Dean is older, and had been hunting demons with their dad long after Sam went off to college. When their dad disappears, Dean goes to Sam for help, and they go after their dad. Turns out their dad was hunting a yellow eyed demon, the one responsible for their mother’s death.

Joining with their father, they manage to defeat the yellow eyed demon, but not before their father dies. They also find out the yellow eyed demon had fed Sam blood when he was a child, and Sam now has certain psychic powers. The yellow eyed demon wanted to create an army with Sam at the lead. Of course those plans were foiled, but Sam continued to be used. And Dean died and went to hell.

The demons worked towards raising the Devil from hell, but luckily Sam and Dean found help in the form of Castiel, the angel. He rose Dean from Hell, and helped him back on his feet. Unfortunately their attempts to stop the return of Satan fail, and he rises.
