Score 7/10Review:
The Slammin' Salmon

Written By: Robert Gonzalez
Date: 24 May 2010

What's good:

- Broken Lizard's at it again, and it's no Club Dread
- The BL guys play their parts dangerously well

What's bad:

- It's another "restaurant" movie
- With little advertising, you might not even know this exists.

Plot:

Slammi' Cleon Salmon, a superstar boxer and owner of the Slammin' Salmon Restaurant, lost $20,000 to the Yakuza. Now, he must make it all back in one night otherwise they'll come to take his business away. So what does Cleon do? He puts it on the manager and waitstaff to make the big bucks.

Review:

Oh Broken Lizard, oh Broken Lizard. For me, it's usually pretty hit-or-miss with them. For example, I loved Beerfest with a fiery passion. I don't know, maybe it's the "college-boy" in me, or my love for beer, but Beerfest was magical. On the other hand, Club Dread was a comedic disaster, to be kind.

For some reason though, The Slammin' Salmon slipped through the cracks for me. I had not noticed any TV commercial ads, or even heard through peer conversation about Broken Lizard's most recent endeavour, so when I stopped at the local Red-Box and saw this bad boy awaiting me inside, I just had to grab it.

The Slammin' Salmon is another "restaurant" movie, akin to the movie Waiting, but without the disgusting penis joke commentary accompanying it. It tells of the mannerisms and behavior of the employees at the restaurant, and not just any restaurant, but a high-class and expensive one meant to satiate the hungers of celebrities and anyone with the adequate amount of cash.

Slammin' Cleon Salmon is the owner of the restaurant, and has indebted himself to the Yakuza after going on a "Japanese Albino hunt", that was strictly for sport and "catch and release". Needless to say, Cleon was a bit cocky, thinking his athletic prowess would get him a win. Unfortunately, he got his ass kicked, hard. And now, he owes the Yakuza twenty grand, that needs to be paid in full the next day.
