So I rarely go out, especially to the hip bar scene, because well I'm old, lazy and cheap. It takes a lot to remove me from my humble abode so it really says a lot about how much I love this band. I'd been listening to The Pack A.D. pretty much non-stop since discovering them a few months back. Most of my customers have now heard them more than a few times. So when my boss stumbled upon a write up about them in a local free paper, we were both ecstatic. Luckily our wives are awesome and the date was set. I can't remember the last time I went out to see a band, especially one I was already so in love with so I was very excited. And they didn't disappoint.

The easiest way to describe the Pack A.D.'s music is early White Stripes but a hell of a lot better. Thrashing rock/blues guitar riffs, slamming drums, a tad of Janis Joplin and a whole lot of attitude all mixed together to create some great rock n roll. Singer/guitarist Becky Black and drummer Maya Miller hail from Vancouver BC and with two albums under their belts and a third one set for release, this band is ready to explode. Check out their albums Funeral Mixtape and Tintype--you won't be disappointed.

So this old man braved the dive bar scene and boy was it worth it. The Pack A.D. is amazing live. First of all, they sound great. Becky Black and Maya Miller know their instruments and know them well. Maya did a fantastic job at engaging the crowd between songs and boy can Becky belt out a scream. The songs were intense, raw and full of a great energy. Everyone there was having a blast--if they weren't they should have been thrown out. I really can't pick out one particular song that was the best, they were all fantastic! A great time was had and I really hope they make it back to Spokane sometime because I would love to see them again. If they come anywhere near you, go see them because they will blow your freak'n socks off.
