Ten Questions 'LOST' Isn't Going to Answer in the Final Two Episodes

Written By: Jon Scholes

With only two more episodes of Lost to go it looks like we’re never going to get the answers to some of the important questions we’ve been asking since the first series. But before we start a Lynch mob to track down and kill JJ Abrams, we’d better make sure that we know what it is that we’ve been after.

Warning: This article contains some really big spoilers.

One. Who the hell are the others?
When we first started, the others included some black smoke, the Darma initiative, and some natives. Then as the series goes by, we find that every time we jump backward and forward in time there is always more people there to play the part of the others. You the hell are they?

Two. Why the hell was there a zoo?
There was polar bear. I get that. The polar bear came from the zoo, but why the hell was there a zoo? Did the Dharma Initiative feel the need for entertainment by talking animals or was it part of some weird science experiment that had not been explained yet?

Three. Who the hell built the statue?
In the anti-penultimate episode we go back further in time than we have done previously, to see the origin of Jacob and Christian and we even meet their “mother”. But as of yet, we have yet to see who made the statue, the ancient Egyptian statue, and what the hell it was for. And with only two episodes to go, I doubt it’s likely that we’ll get an answer.

Four. What is the significance of the numbers?
The numbers have been played with since the very first episode, in a very creepy fashion. They’ve given us a lottery win, sent people insane, been stamped on metal work, typed into machines, and been referenced in almost any numerical sense during the series. Now we know that there in each number of references an individual person\candidate but at no point are we actually told what the numbers mean.

Five. What the hell is the island?
So far we have been told or at least given clues for the island to be: a magical cure for all diseases, a sentient being and now the fountain of youth. But obviously, you shouldn’t touch the fountain of youth, because it will kill you straight away and possibly destroy the universe. So that’s not it.
