How to Guide:
How to Make an Anime Music Video (AMV) on Windows Live Movie Maker
Ah, anime fandom. Otaku (i.e., super fans) and average fans both like to express their love for anime in different ways. If you see a shady guy with a trench coat and make-up on, chances are that he is going to an anime convention…or he is just really sad.
I have yet to dress as one of my favorite anime or video game character, but that doesn’t mean that I’m missing out on the fandom. I express my love for anime making anime music videos (AMVs). Most fans either love to see these AMVs, or they love to make them (like me).
They are all the rage on YouTube and Facebook, and Anime Expo has an AMV contest every year. Chances are if you’re reading this, you already know what an AMV is, so let's cut to the chase.
For those of you who have Windows Live Movie Maker, I’m going to show you how to make said AMVs. I am currently working on my next one, so this is perfect for me as well. It's not that hard, and once you get the hang of it, it becomes really addicting!
First, pick an anime you like, but I guess that was implied when you read the article's title. Secondly, pick a song that you feel really goes with the anime. Just picking any random action song for an action anime isn’t going to work. You are going to have to feel your way through this process. If you feel the song is wrong, most likely you are right.
Before you do anything, if you want a title and credits, add those by pressing the TITLE or CREDITS buttons on the tool bar! If you add them when you’re finished, the music won't sync with the video and your work will be ruined!
Okay, now press the ADD VIDEOS and PHOTOS button to add the video (or pictures). Now click ADD MUSIC.
Depending on what you want, I say chop the video little by little along the way. Press EDIT once you add the video, move the black bar on the video and put it to where you want your video to start. Then press START SET PIONT. Now, depending on how the song goes (you may want to stop it on a beat or solo), move the black bar again to where you want the video to stop. Now press the SET END PIONT button.
