Review:
Famiy Guy - Its A Trap

Three years ago, Seth MacFarlane combined the characters from his hit animated show Family Guy with the timeless film Star Wars. Now three years later we have the final installment in the Family Guy Star Wars Trilogy creatively entitle Its A Trap (in reference to Admiral Ackbar’s infamous quote). As of now though, the episode (though its hard to call it an episode as huge it is) is only available as a DVD or Itunes release and will soon be shown as a regular episode later on. Is this final installment the parody Star Wars fans have been wanting or is the title referencing something more than just the Admiral's famous quote?
Now right when you start the film, the scrolling paragraph pretty much says that they were forced to release this by Fox on time (they even confirm this in the Commentary). Sadly, its what caused this film its downfall. Most people will agree that the first two (Blue Harvest and Something, Something, Something, Dark Side) were brilliant, with jokes at the right time and feeling like a new experience. Now with Its a Trap, we have a movie that feels exactly like Return of the Jedi only with Family Guy characters. Seriously though, the fact that Fox completely forced the production of this caused it to be terrible compared to what fans expectations with the other two releases.
As far as the jokes go, its still Family Guy and for the most part its good for a nice laugh. Though there was one part, (a reference to Caddyshack I believe) where the characters nod at each other for a good two minutes or so (at least it felt like it). I’m sure fans of the movie it was referencing would’ve got a kick out of it, but honestly I got bored after the first few nods and almost hit the fast-forward button. As far as everything else goes though, it felt pretty funny though don’t expect the humor to be anything you haven’t seen before.
