Avengers Movie Update
In April it was announced that Joss Whedon was on Marvel's shortlist for the director's chair for the impending Avengers hero team-up movie due to start shooting in 2011 and due to hit cinemas in 2012.
Although it's been difficult to find any official announcements online regarding the role, many web sites are now blogging as if the deal has already been made. As an example, SuperHeroHype interviewed Stan Lee at Wizard World Anaheim, and his comments suggested that Whedon was a lock.

Many people will already know Joss Whedon for his work on the Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse TV shows, the Serenity movie, and his work on Marvel comics titles such as Astonishing X-Men and Runaways. Whedon has also been responsible for a number of screenplay polishes (some uncredited) on films such as Speed, Alien 4: Resurrection and Toy Story.
According to a recent Twitter post by fellow director Edgar Wright, apparently set to soon direct a film adaptation of Marvel's character Ant Man, Wright apparently recently met Joss Whedon for the first time.

This would not only appear to confirm Whedon at the helm of the Avengers, but would also suggest that Ant Man will make an appeareance in the film.
And whch actor's name is rumoured to be circulated for the role of Hank Pym, a.k.a. Ant Man himself? None other than Nathan Fillion, a long-time collaborator of Whedon's.

On a slight different note, Edward Norton, the last actor to play the Incredible Hulk, has expressed a reluctance to commit to the upcoming Avengers project.
