This will be the biggest patch for the game since its release at the beginning of February and it includes a wide range of updates which will be a step in the direction of a more rounded Star Trek experience. Cryptic has clearly been listening to critics and fans alike, and many hope that this is an indication of bigger and bolder changes to the game in the near future.

The patch provides three new playable races, new stances and hairstyles, and new off-duty uniform selections. Several new skills will be introduced and there will be a respec tool for adjusting the allocation of your existing skill points.

The update will provide a new Klingon battle cruiser, and it will allow Klingons to participate in a number of previously Federation-only missions. Federation characters will be allowed to PVP against each other, and there will be a new PVP map. The C –Store will also be updated with a number of new optional extras.

Although the release of the patch was originally scheduled to be 18th March, Cryptic has extended the installation window to the end of March. It is, however, unlikely that players of STO will have to wait much longer, as Cryptic has invited people to preview the new content on their test server Tribble, and the game client is set to download a lot of patch data in advance, to speed up your upgrade on the launch day.
