Lego Universe Launch Date Announced

Last week at the E3 show in the USA Lego finally announced the launch date of their Lego Universe MMO game as October 26th 2010 (Link).

The game will distributed to retail outlets by Warner Bros. Interactive, and it will also be available to purchase directly through Lego's own web site.

Players who pre-order the game will be known as the Founders, and will benefit from early access to the game from October 12th. Pre-order copies of the game will also come with a unique astronaut minifigure (while stocks last).

Although some might consider the game only for children, Lego toys have broad appeal to players of all ages, and this game intends to follow suit, providing play experiences to suit all age groups.

As a player you build your own custom minifigure to represent you in the game, and then you are assigned your own area for building your own Lego creations. You can solo or team up with friends to explore the game universe building creations, earning imagination points and collection bricks for your own Free Build projects in your home area.

There is also a larger story in the game concerning the fate of the Lego Universe and the struggle of its inhabitants against the forces of the Maelstrom.
