Hello first-person shooter (FPS) fans! Here I am again with an update regarding the on-going BlackShot Tournament @ Colosseum here in Singapore. The Qualifier Round 2 was held last January 3, 2010, at the Colosseum in Iluma @ Bugis, in Singapore. I was not able to come to the event because I was still on holiday in my homeland, the Philippines (wherein, I observed, a new free-to-play military FPS online game is getting popular—the Cross Fire).

As I’ve posted in my previous article, BlackShot Tournament @ Colosseum Qualifier Round 1 Ended Successfully, four teams made it to the Grand Finals during the first qualifier round, held December 13, 2009. These include: rS.quare (overall winner); Axis.Kryptonite (1st Runner up); [Bf.Nut], (2nd Runner up); and xxAIZaIxx, (3rd Runner up). However, Team [Bf.Nut] has forfeited their seeding due to a team reshuffle of more than two players in the line-up. Therefore, in the Qualifier Round 2, the organizers selected five qualifying teams instead of four to make up with the forfeit of [Bf.Nut] (too bad, the team I think is quite a contender).

Qualifier Round 2, likewise, was successful; with five teams besting the seven others to make it to the Grand Finals, which will be held on March 20, 2010. The victorious, trigger-happy teams are: Invictus.XTC (overall winner), Insanity.com.sg (1st runner up), Krypton (2nd runner up), [S]tun.[FB] (3rd runner up), and Coup[D]etat (4th runner up). Compared to the Qualifier Round 1, the number of teams that registered for the said event was a bit less though (12 teams compared to 16 in Round 1), but that’s not because of the waning popularity of the game, I think. It is just that the timing (January 3) is too early, with most of the players still on the holiday mood, or others might have been still out of the country for the holidays.
