Fallen Earth: Solid Post-Apocalyptic Mayhem

I recently was given a chance to try Fallen Earth, the most recent addition to the MMO community. Fallen Earth is a post-apocalyptic attempt on a difficult genre that many have failed at in the past - FPS/MMORPG.

Before I had a chance to the play the game, I was warned that the learning curve was steep and that I should take that into consideration when starting the game. While I appreciate the heads up, I have decided those claims are unfounded. Fallen Earth had no more of a learning curve than any of its predacessors when they came out, including the 300 lb. gorilla in the room. More on that later.

About the Game
As mentioned before, the game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where cloning has been implemented to provide limited immortality and an industrious work force. At least that was true until recently.

As you start the game, you're a high level clone, fresh out of the vats, born in the middle of an emergency. Since you're already level 40, you get the chance to learn the game at your own pace with virtually no chance of death.

Without giving anything away, you'll eventually start out as a level 1 clone, trying to get everything you had back. The game uses a classless AP system, where you can choose to increase your stats and skills, making you more proficient in various areas.

The AP System
Instead of using the standard classes, each player can literally spend their points differently for a miriad of stats, skills, and later, mutations. Stats are your basic characteristics, like Strength, Coordination, or Willpower. Skills are more focused, with abilities like Rifles, Melee, Armor Use, or Social. Finally, once you reach level 15, you can start training mutations like Primal, providing stat buffs, Nano-Manipulation, control of nanites, or Sonic, the ability to manipulate the destructive forces of sound.
