From one Jumpgate to the next

EVE Online is a game that never stops evolving. During its lifespan it has gone through many iterations to shape and change it into one of the most involving online communities found in online gaming and today it took its next jump deeper into the universe known as New Eden.

Dominion marks the eleventh expansion to go live, and as with past additions is readily available for free to EVE Online’s many subscribers. As usual a new wealth of content has been added to the game with heavy focus being given this time around to the alliance warfare that makes up most of the ‘end-game’ experience.

The biggest change that most people will be looking forward to will be the overhaul of the sovereignty system. Previously in alliance warfare nearly everything revolved around the control of starbases. This has now been dramatically changed to allow for, what will hopefully be a more dynamic and ever changing experience. Control of a system will now be more static with multiple control levels being removed completely. Alliances in control of a system will now have much more input and interactivity of what goes on with in their designated space and players can now look forward to developing their system in the direction of their choosing, be it; industrial, military or economic based.

As good as the new changes sound though; things would be a little hard to manage if it wasn’t for the new COSMOS networking system. This new social network will give players a much more detailed selection of player and alliance profiles as well as a new mailing system to help keep everything under control, save you losing your system to a rival alliance due to poor communication.

For those pilots that aren’t PvP nuts and like to live outside of the law, brand new pirate story arcs are also being put in place. This is something that has been much needed for a while as in comparison to the arcs available for those flying within federation law, the quantity available has been somewhat lacking.
