BlackShot Tournament @ Colosseum Qualifier Round 1 Ended Successfully

The first qualifier round of the BlackShot Tournament @ Colosseum in Singapore ended successfully yesterday, December 13, with four teams emerging victorious against 12 others to qualify for the Grand Finals on March 20, 2010. The wining teams include: rS.quare (overall winner); Axis.Kryptonite (1st Runner up); [Bf.Nut], (2nd Runner up); and xxAIZaIxx, (3rd Runner up).

BlackShot is a massively multiplayer online (MMO) first-person shooter (FPS) game developed by South Korean company Vertigo Games for Microsoft Windows-based PCs. The game has several different versions for different regions worldwide. In Southeast Asia, the publisher is Garena.

BlackShot is a militaristic first-person shooter with weapons, characters and gritty environments. The backdrop of the story is when the old world “ended” on the fourth of December 2033, which could be considered, if we could borrow the term from the Terminator movie series, the “Judgment Day”. In the Terminator movie, however, the Judgment Day was caused by Skynet becoming self aware (remember Kristanna Loken’s cyborg character T-X or Terminatrix trying to “program” the machines?). In BlackShot, on the other hand, the global destruction was caused by superpowers nuking each other to the ground. Quite a large number of populations actually survived humans and clones alike. These include other humans who are trying to take advantage of the situation by trying to continue manufacturing clone soldiers. So while the Terminator movies involve machines, this story involves the battle between human mercenaries against advanced human clone soldiers “manufactured” by other human factions. The BlackShot Tournament @ Colosseum is being hosted by Colosseum, the biggest cyber gaming center in Singapore, which boasts over 200 terminals and 20 hard-core gaming machines for VIP gamers. The tournament is composed of four qualifier rounds, with the second round on January 3, 2010; third round, on January 24; and the final qualifying round, on February 21.
