Alltern8.com is a website that features bloggers, columnists, and feature writers producing content for eight areas of interests: MMO Games, LARP & Ren Faires, Tabletop and Collectible Card Games, Tabletop Wargaming, PC & Console Gaming, Comics/Graphic Novels, Cosplay/Memorabilia, and Indi Music & Film. Despite the diversity of its topics, Alltern8.com has content and style guidelines that are applicable to all of its writers, no matter the subject area.
Below you will find a guide for prospective writers, whether writing a feature article once in a while, or blogging daily the same rules in creating successful content. Please carefully read this guide before you begin submitting content, and contact us if you have any questions or suggestions.

General Guidelines for All Writers (blogs, columns, or features):

1. Absolutely no “l33t speak”. Your articles and/or blog entries should not read like a text message. We don’t want u talking like u r a teen txting addict lol kthx!

2. Be mindful of your spelling and grammar. People will notice when it’s wrong, even if they don't take the time to leave a comment to tell you. That’s not to say you have to master collective vs. Distributive predicates, but mastering who, whom, who's, and whose is a pretty wise idea. Not only will this help you establish credibility with your audience, but it will make your content much easier to read. Besides, there is no excuse for spelling mistakes these days, given the prevalence of spell check capabilities of word processing software.

3. Make your paragraphs concise. People scan internet content, meaning they tend not to read it word for word. Do what you can to break up larger paragraphs into smaller, more digestible ones.
