Area Conquest to Expand in S.U.N. Online

No matter how different massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) are from each other—in game play, characters, the world/setting, stories, etc.—there is one thing that is really common: when characters start to reach the high levels (for example, Level 70 or 80 for a 100-level-cap game), getting to the next level is pretty tiresome and somehow boring, and somehow seems to take such a long time. But in Webzen’s free-to-play MMORPG Soul of the Ultimate Nation (S.U.N.) Online, this is not that case. Why? Because of a game feature called Area Conquest, or simply, AC.

As of the moment, S.U.N. Online has two servers: Etherain (Global) and Klippe (Europe). Each server currently has four areas: Forest of Beasts, Etherain Sewer, Frozen Palace, and Valley of the Dragonkin. The goal of the AC is to “conquer” each area by: killing mob captains, killing specific characters (Dark Nacrat, Dark Knight, Lucky Slime, and Watchman Cybed, among others), completing the required number of quests (each area has four main quests), hunting for the required items, completing the missing treasure map for respective areas, completing and forming the respective treasure keys, and then finding the treasure chest for each map. There is also the Tower of Ruins, which includes the Trial of Earth, Trial of Water, Trial of Fire, and Trial of Wind (the said trials give you high-end items in terms of loots/drops).

One of the fun things here is that (in relation to my point about leveling up) while you go your way to complete the AC, you are leveling up without your noticing it. Apart from that, you get rewards as you reach a certain percentage of the area conquest (10 percent, 20 percent, 30 percent and so on). Also, even though you have to do each quest in each area at least 10 times (sometimes as much as 40 times), there is really a big consolation to that. Specific number of completions (two times or three times) of the quests in every area will enable you to craft a ring or necklace in the Crafting NPC, under the “Mission Quest Crafting Item”. And these rings or necklace can be ranked up to give more boosts, or, since you can just carry one necklace and two rings, can be sold to other players who are just starting.
