Article: iPhone OS 4.0 Announced

Apple has been on track to update the latest firmware for the ever popular iPhone. This newest firmware, which will release a year after 3.0, will see a whole bunch of new features to be added to the different iPhones. Apple announced during the press conference that some features will be limited to the different devices (3GS, 3G, Original iPhone and Touch iPod). Below we list all the different features to be released with this new update.

Features:
- Multitasking – A much needed addiction to the iPhone will allow users to run multiple applications at once. One idea could be Safari loading up a web page for one task, whilst the user can also be writing an SMS without having to worry about constantly switching between applications.
- Game Centre – Likely to be the Xbox Live for iPhone. Specifications include the Game Centre will include achievements and friends list that will allow users to be able to see what their friends of playing and high scores on particular games.
- iAd – Combining TV ads with web ads. Users can click advertisements in applications without the worry of been taken to Safari and out of their app. This is a good solution for users who don’t want to exit games every time they click an advertisement.
- Enhanced Mail – Mail that will merge different accounts into one inbox for easier view of messages, as well as threaded messaging similar to view of SMS messages.
- Application Folders – Merge different applications into different folders. Will be useful for users will lots of applications and makes for a more organised method of finding your favourite apps.
