Farpoint 2010 - A Maryland Science Fiction Media Convention

The Convention Fans Blog/Alltern8.com team is very excited to report that we’ll be attending Farpoint, a Maryland science fiction media convention! It is being held at the Crowne Plaza Baltimore North in Maryland (USA) on February 12th-14th, 2010.

From the official website: "Farpoint is an annual gathering for fans of all genres of imaginative fiction - Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, SuperHeroes - in all the media formats in which they might appear - Cinematic Movies, Television, Direct to DVD , Books on Tape, Podcasts, Web Video - you name it, we want to celebrate it!"

The guest list currently includes: Felicia Day (Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog / The Guild / Dollhouse), Matt Frewer (Eureka / Watchmen / Taken / Max Headroom), Mira Furlan (LOST / Babylon 5), and Lee Arenberg (Pirates of the Caribbean).

Pre-registration is available until January 31st, 2010. A full weekend membership is $70; Saturday Only: $50; Sunday Only: $40; Child Weekend Membership: $25; Friday Only: $10; and Saturday Evening Only: $10 (this is included with a Saturday Only or a Weekend Badge). There are no single day memberships for children.

In terms of autographs, headline guests will sign one autograph per person as part of their membership. Guests may charge for additional autographs. Headline guests will sign autographs at scheduled times throughout the weekend, and convention members are generally called to the autograph table in groups by badge number.

Guests who have waived their appearance fee may charge a fee for any autograph. Additionally, authors make themselves available in the convention areas throughout the con so that you may purchase their books and get an autograph, but there is no fixed autograph arrangement between them and the convention.

Farpoint features a banquet (extra fee), a masquerade, panels, live shows, guest Q&As, a game room, a con suite, and more! A final event schedule is still to be announced.
