Interview:
An Exclusive Interview with Game Core Convention Organizer Paul Truitt

Game Core is a gaming convention in the Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania (USA). It is happening April 30th - May 2nd at the Valley Forge Convention Center, in King of Prussia. Although previously known as Too Many Games, the convention is now entering it's second year under it's new name and new organizer, Paul Truitt. The Convention Fans Blog team had a chance to attend the first Game Core convention back in 2009, and we had a really great time (view the photos here). Although we can't attend this year due to a scheduling conflict, Paul agreed to let us do a quick interview with him about the 2010 convention! If you can, head out to Game Core this year and experience it for yourself!
Alltern8: Paul, had you attended a lot of conventions prior to founding Game Core? What was your first con, and how old were you?
Paul Truitt: I hadn't attended many. I used to go to toy shows with my dad when I was little, like 6-12 I would say. My first video game con though was Philly Classic 5, and I was 19? Maybe 20.
Alltern8: What inspired you to found Game Core?
PT: Well, I was a part of Too Many Games, a great con in the Reading, PA area and Chuck (the founder) decided he wanted to take some time off and focus on other things, so he said I could keep it going but he wanted the name. So Game Core was born.
Alltern8: What's something unique about your convention, when compared to other gaming cons out there?
PT: Well, the first thing is that we are running non-stop for 48 hours. I know not many cons do that. We are focusing on both video games and table top, pen and paper, board games, etc. We also are celebrating milestones in gaming history, like last year we celebrated the Sega Dreamcast's 10th birthday and this year we will celebrate 25 years of the Nintendo Entertainment System and 20 years of the Final Fantasy series in America.
