1. Comic-Con 2010 Masquerade Announced (USA)

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) has announced that they will host a masquerade contest at their 2010 convention. It will be held in Ballroom 20 on Saturday, July 24, 2010. Submissions are due July 1, 2010, or when all slots are full. Given how large SDCC is, you can bet that the slots will fill up, and possibly well before the deadline. 2. Filipino Youth Become Heroes for a Day (Philippines)

Hero Nation 2009 is an event held in the Philippines that is hosted by Hero TV. The event drew approximately 3,000 guests, along with 170 individual and 10 group cosplayers in costumes ranging from the more traditional anime characters, to superheros and robots. Apparently the youngest participant was just two-years-old. Hero Nation 2009 wasn't just about cosplay, but also performances from bands such as Pedicab, Chico Sci, Grin Department, and Sponge Cola. 3. 150 Go All Out For 1st Art And Cosplay Contest (Borneo)

If you had any doubts that cosplay was now worldwide, you won't after this. Borneo, the third largest island in the world, recently hosted an art and cosplay contest! One of the organizers, Ak Ahmad Shafie, said: "Japanese anime is very popular worldwide and we only wish to promote cosplay culture, just like in Malaysia and Singapore where a hobby like this is very much shared among large groups of people, especially the younger generation.”
