Upcoming Torchwood / Doctor Who Conventions for 2010 - 2011

New Doctor Who logoDoctor Who, the incredibly famous science fiction franchise based in the UK, has had fandom conventions since the 1970s, and they are still going strong. Although fans can often find Doctor Who programming, events, and guests at general sci-fi cons all over the world, there are some conventions dedicated entirely to the good Doctor, his companions, his movies, TV series, merchandise, spin-off shows, and oh so very much more. Below are some of the upcoming fandom cons dedicated to Doctor Who and Torchwood for 2010 and 2011. This is not a completely exhaustive list, but if you're in the UK or in the USA there's a good chance one of these will be within a reasonable traveling distance for you.

Invasion (Spring)
Barking Abbey Comprehensive School in Essex, UK
May 1, 2010

Invasion is a convention hosted by Tenth Planet Events, and is held twice a year. The spring convention offers a mix of stars from all era’s of Doctor Who and its spin off shows Torchwood and the Sarah Jane Adventures. Guests for the spring show include Peter Purves, Frazer Hines, Richard Franklin, Nick Courtney, Graham Cole, Wendy Padbury, Hamish Wilson, Sheila Steafel, Jill Curzon, and Yvonne Antrobus. Adult tickets range in price from £46.00 to £109.00.

Reunions: Marco Polo
Angel Hotel in Cardiff, Wales, UK
May 2, 2010

This is a one-day Welsh Doctor Who (and related Who-verse franchises) convention hosted by A Crack in Time Events. Guests include William Russell, Carole Ann Ford, Mark Eden, Derren Nesbitt, and Waris Hussein. Tickets are just £15.00, and autographs are £5. Photos with guests will be available, with prices to be announced. Attendance is limited to just 60 people, so it is advised to buy tickets in advance.

Timegate
Holiday Inn Select in Atlanta, Georgia, USA
May 28 - 30, 2010

Timegate is a convention that combines Stargate and Doctor Who fandoms, but since it has "Time" as part of the title, I've decided to include it in this list. Guests for Timegate 2010 include Carmen Argenziano, Paul Kasey, Dominic Glynn, Diana Botsford, Kelly Yates, David Read, Anthony Taylor, Louis Robinson, Jana Oliver, Berta Platas, Michelle Roper, Mike Langford, Andy Vetromile, Richard Launius, and Jason "PK" Levine. If you pre-register, tickets are $35 for the weekend. They will be $45 at the door.

Event One
National Museum Of Wales - Cardiff, Cardiff, Wales, UK
July 3, 2010

This is a one-day Welsh Doctor Who (and related Who-verse franchises) convention hosted by A Crack in Time Events. Guests include Florence Hoath, Margaret John, Donald Tosh, and Andrew Cartmel. Standard tickets cost £40.00 and include access to all areas and an autograph from each guest. Student/child tickets are available for £25. A deluxe ticket is £70 and it includes two autographs and a photo with the guests.

Hi! I played Kelly in last week's episode of Dr. Who - 'Closing Time'. I'd love to join one of your conventions. What are the fees for a session? Look forward to hearing from you!

Tony Lee is not attending this convention and warns fans not to pre-register for it. Here's his reasoning.
