In the United States, Memorial Day weekend is a prime time for fandom conventions. As with Labor Day, many Americans are off work on that Monday, which means conventions can run for four days instead of three. Stackpole, Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day, Colleen Clinkenbeard, Jolene Houser, Mike McFarland, Daniel Davis, Jaina Solo, Tristen Citrine, Aaron Douglas, Gary Lockwood, James Marsters, John Schneider, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, and more. Tickets are available at the door, with a weekend ticket running only $35.

WisCon is the world’s leading feminist science fiction convention. It encourages the discussion feminism, gender, race and class. According to organizers, "WisCon is primarily a book-oriented convention... with an irrepressible sense of humor." At the door registration takes place on the 2nd floor of the Concourse Hotel. Tickets for the weekend are $50 for an adult. WisCon accepts personal checks, travelers' checks, Visa, Master Card, PayPal, and cash.

Another Madison, Wisconsin convention happening this weekend, NakamaCon 2010 has a focus on steampunk, anime, and furries. NakamaCon was from its first conception to be a convention that literally means “A circle of friends”. The focus is to meet new people, expand your fannish base and have fun. At the door registration is available for $40 for the full weekend, with single day tickets also available.
