MomoCon 2010 Photos and Convention ReportWe came to our 6th MomoCon with low expectations due to how terrible last year's experience was. In the past two years, MomoCon has been plagued with terrible weather and over crowding. This year the weather was wonderful and that made a huge difference in the con experience. After talking with a bunch of other con-goers the overall experience varied greatly from person to person. I’m glad to say that this year was actually enjoyable for us.

Our MomoCon started on Friday when we went to pick up our badges. This was that first year MomoCon has ever offered pre-registration and it was great. We walked over to the student center, got a little lost and went to the walk in registration, which had no lines, and got directed to the pre-registration. We had a total of one person in front of us waiting to pick up their badge. I was able to pick up my groups' tickets pretty quickly. I am so glad they offered this after last year's awful lines

We arrived a bit late so we didn’t see the line for registration early Saturday, but from what I heard it was less then an hour wait, which isn’t too bad. When we finally arrived we walked in and we saw lines to go to the 3rd level for the dealers room, so we decided to skip it till Sunday. We spent much of Saturday meeting with fellow cosplayers and taking pictures.

Everyone started to gather for the costume contest scheduled for 5:30. Since they were running an hour behind, I had plenty of time to grab some snacks from one of the vendors and got pictures of the contestants. There were a handful of good costumes, some of which were quite impressive! Although the announcer had a megaphone, it was impossible to hear anything she said. Attendees could not hear what any of the costumes were from or who the winners were. Many people sitting in our area left early before the winners were announced because they couldn’t hear what awards were what and who had won. There is a theater right next to the student center with comfortable stadium seating, controlled temperatures, theater lighting and a sound system, however the contest was held at the empty fountain with cold concrete steps to sit on.
